City Council Approves Appointment of Next Police Chief


On Wednesday, June 2nd the Bridgeton City Council approved the appointment of Major Mark Mossotti as the City’s next Chief of Police. 

“Mark brings great knowledge and professional expertise to his new role at the city of Bridgeton,” states Mayor Terry Briggs.“ 

Mark started with the Bridgeton Police Department as an Explorer at the age of 15 prior to being hired as a Police Officer.  He is a 35-year veteran of the Department with experience as Sergeant-Detective/Patrol, Lieutenant-Detective Division, Captain-Support Division and Major. Mark has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and is a graduate of the 234th Session of the FBI National Academy. 

“I am honored to be selected as the next Chief of Police for the City of Bridgeton. Having spent the last 35 years with the Bridgeton Police Department, I look forward to working diligently within the Bridgeton community to ensure a safe and inviting community for our residents and guests.  I am extremely proud of the dedicated professionals I work with and it will be an honor to lead them into the future.” 

Mark will take command of the Department on August 1st following the retirement of Chief Don Hood.  Don has been with the City of Bridgeton Police Department over 43 years and as Chief for the last 12 years.
