[ARCHIVED] Indoor Pool Shutdown Begins Early

Thursday, 8/5, we experienced multiple power outages in the a.m. at the Bridgeton Recreation Center, which caused yet unknown damage to the main filter pump of the indoor pool. Staff tried throughout the day to diagnose and repair the problem to no avail.

In light of the Indoor Pool shutdown already scheduled to begin this coming Sunday (for annual maintenance), staff made the decision to begin that process immediately, in the hopes of preparing the pool as quickly as possible so we can continue to work on the electrical repairs after the pool is re-filled. We still hope to be able to open back up by August 22.

Thursday night’s (8/5) aquatics classes are cancelled. Staff has called all registered participants. The instructors will communicate with their participants over the next couple of weeks whether the classes will be made up on the break week, or if we will offer a credit.
Friday, 8/6, the outdoor pool will be open for lap swimming and water walking from 5:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Indoor passholders will be honored for those sessions at no additional charge.
Saturday morning’s (8/7) Hydrospin classes will be held outside, as they were going to be the following weekend anyway. We are in the process of contacting those class participants now. We thank you for your understanding, and we apologize for the inconvenience for our indoor pool users.
